Mount Rainier National Park
Another park visit affected by wildfire smoke, my view of “The Mountain” was obstructed two out of the three days I was there. I also got rained on most of this trip. But I did get one magical morning at a fire tower overlooking Mount Rainier, so I count myself blessed. “Is The Mountain Out” is a common question in the Mount Rainier area, alluding to the fact it is visible roughly 1 out of 6 days.
I tried to embrace the weather, shooting crisp warm scenes on the clear days or using the mist created by the rain and dampness to create more abstract images. Some of my keystone photos I had planned were impossible with the conditions I got, but I loved seeing the park in so many types of weather. If only I just got some snow! I’m glad to have visited and gotten first hand experience, so that my inevitable trip back will be that much more informed. This place is a treasure trove of hiking trails, wildlife, alpine meadows, and panoramic views.
